ANZ. When FCA collapsed through poor property speculation in 1979 it nearly brought down its parent, the Bank of Adelaide, as well. To prevent a major national economic panic the Reserve Bank and the Fraser government forced the Bank of Adelaide to allow itself to be taken over by the ANZ. FCA became an ANZ subsidiary.
